P6 Challenge-Build an Anderson Shelter

Primary 6 have started building model Anderson Shelters!
  • This week, Primary 6 worked in their 'Cooperative Learning Groups' and were given a challenge.
  • Their challenge was to plan, design and then create a model of an Anderson Shelter, which they learned about during our WW2 topic.
  • The children worked extremely well together, ensuring everyone was involved and every opinion was listened to. They then had to compromise to decide on their final ideas. They did this incredibly well!
Take a look at the children presenting their planning with their classmates :

Next, the children used 'junk' materials and began to build their designs:

We will upload some photos of the finished products!

P6 Assembly

  • Primary 6 had a HUGE responsibility last week when they were asked to serve at the school coffee morning.
  • The children were an absolute credit to the school. They used great manners with their customers and supported one another whilst counting change.
  • We all had a fantastic morning raising money for charity!
  • Take a look at our lovely servers! :)

  • After a super busy morning at the school coffee morning, Primary 6 had an important afternoon ahead.
  • They showcased their learning about WW2 and were absolute stars!
  • The children have loved every minute of their learning about WW2. Some favourites have been evacuation and rationing.
  • The children amazed themselves with their ability to sing a few war related songs (Pack up your Troubles, It's a Long way to Tipperary and We'll Meet Again) . They really enjoyed analysing the songs to ensure they fully understood what they were singing about.
  • I am one very proud teacher!
